In 1958 he studied at the Massana Art School.
From 1960 to 1965 he studied at the Baixas Academy.
In 1966 he joined the artistic circle Sant Lluc until 1978 when he moved to Tarragona.
He has several of his works in private collections in France, England, Holland, Germany and Panama.
Avel's rule is not to participate in painting competitions.
