To Dream, to Collect

Drones and smart glass, the Chinese government’s recently proposed social credit system, self-tracking technologies such as Fitbit, WikiLeaks and the global consequences it has brought about: the great amount of information we currently dispose of on mankind, big and small data alike, allow us to track the outlines of our humanity like never before on an individual and collective scale, making it an enhanced, augmented humanity.
However, this multitude of data blurs our identity, making way for new interpretations and numerous possibilities for design. In fact, when data representation revolves around mankind, its condition and the products of its action, a fracture is oftentimes generated between how we perceive ourselves and what the data itself reveals.
In these years of Augmented Humanity, ultra-shared and in continuous evolution, which sees individuals coming closer and closer to machine-like perfection, humanity itself is obscured: an unknown, a mystery that intensifies the more precise and complex its representation becomes.
This way, as the technologies we have developed take our every action into account, we strive to recognise ourselves and imagine our future.
This exhibition revolves around the “broken figures” of the contemporary man and woman: iconography, data visualisation, photoviz, data art and sonification cross time and desire, our relationships with others and techno-economic conspiracies alongside violence, sexuality, partnership and physicality.
