Ferran Cartes was born in Tortosa (Tarragona) in 1943. Since 1977 he has dedicated himself to sculpture and his work is the result of an evolution that began in the early seventies, with works influenced by the intensity of expressionism, to later provide his work with an architectural dimension. Maturity came in 2000 with a monographic exhibition at the Ebro Museum in Tortosa, entitled “Water Stones", where his sculptures already enjoyed a formal liberation, based on cuts and the application of colors.
