About Drawing Room

Drawing Room is a fair devoted to the dissemination and assessment of contemporary drawing, which has already been complemented with the organisation of a parallel event in Lisbon in October.

During these four years the fair has helped to highlight the work of a network of over 70 galleries including that of Patrick Heide in London, Martin Mertens in Berlin, Martin Kudlek in Cologne, ADN in Barcelona, Miguel Nabinho in Lisbon, Silvestre in Madrid, Jeanne Bucher Jaeger in Paris, A01 in Naples, and Rafael Ortiz in Seville. Over 200 artists from all facets of the discipline of drawing have also taken part in Drawing Room, which has paid special attention to various artistic traditions such as Italian classicism, Chinese landscape painting, and Japanese ink. Among them the following stand out: Abdelkader Benchamma, Ana Jotta, Edith Kollath, Ericailcane, Eva Lootz, Gamaliel Rodríguez, Javier Arce, Javier Calleja, Jesús Zurita, José Miguel Pereñíguez, Károly Keserü, Klaas Vanhee, Lei Ziren, Marta Roberti, Miquel Mont, Navid Azimi Sajadi, Nicola Toffolini, Paco Guillén, Pedro A.H. Paixão, Pedro Cabrita Reis, Reiko Tsunashima, and William Ludwig Lutgens.

The Curatorial Committee of Drawing Room is made up of personalities such as Elsy Lahner, the curator of La Albertina in Vienna, and Inmaculada Corcho, the director of the ABC Museum in Madrid. Drawing Room aims to become an Iberian observatory of international contemporary drawing led its director Mónica Álvarez Careaga. This mission includes the publishing of the Papeleo magazine and the organising of congresses of international experts.
