Ramaz Chantladze is a Georgian artist was born in 1960 who lives and works in Tbilisi, Georgia. He studied at Jacob Nikoladze School of Art. In 1979-1985 he studied at Tbilisi State Academy of Arts. He has been a member of the Union of Artists of Georgia since 1997. Ramaz Chantladze, an interesting versatile painter has attracted the critic’s attention with his works from the very beginning of his career. He is defined himself with special vision and individual manner. He has been seeking creative ways throughout his career not only artistic but also the performance manner and the experimental painting techniques. Every artist has his own special expressive method, which is presented in his art prevalently. The main expressive language of Ramaz Chantladze’s works is color. The leading role of colors perhaps is best presented in his multiple still life paintings and especially in his “portrait” expressions of clowns. We should also mention the series of paintings of animals and fairy birds. All the surface of the paintings is based on a kind of play with colors, sometimes the whole flat patch-like expressions and sometimes on the contrary mosaiclike colors appear, which reminds us of pointillism technique with its spaciousness. In addition, the expressive power of clear colors and the interrelation of vivid tones trigger the association of Vitrage Art. Colorful contour images, which form a whole colorful surface are also of great importance. The vertical streams and spiral movements of contours somehow respond to the composition images and colorful rhythms of every particular case. Perhaps it is the reason, the artist triggers a weird feeling in everyone watching his numerous works. The forms and the objects in his paintings are somehow unified by the contours in front of the viewers.
