Born Jean-Marie Duaiv in France, near Bordeaux on July 26th, 1952, DUAIV (pron. Doo-arf) is a U.S. Citizen since June 2011. Duaiv creates paintings that transcend the boundaries of expressionism and impressionism. The techniques, originated by the first French impressionists and the expressionists who followed, are greatly explored by current painters, yet rarely are they mastered with Duaiv’s finesse. Today, Duaiv is a Commander of the Order of the Star of Europe and undoubtedly one of the most distinguished French Impressionists alive today.

Duaiv is also an accomplished musician (cellist.): he demonstrated his artistic talent at a distinctly young age.

He began painting at the age of 3 and had completed his first work in oil at the age of nine. But the young artist also showed early promise as a musician. So, when Duaiv was of age, he was enrolled in both the Conservatory of Music and the School of Fine Arts in Paris, where he met and married Magella, a classical ballet dancer. Today, they have two children Kalinka and Vlasseuskaia.

Duaiv became a concert-performing cellist as well as a renowned Impressionist, who has given numerous private performances for distinguished gatherings at such venues as the Maison de l'Amerique Latine and the Hotel Hermitage in Monaco, and the Chapelle de la Misericorde in Vallauris.
