𝑲𝑨𝑳𝑬𝑰𝑫𝑶𝑺𝑪𝑶𝑷𝑬 𝑶𝑭 𝑪𝑶𝑳𝑶𝑼𝑹𝑺 2019
British artist Bettina Newbery paints fine oil portraits inspired by fashion and popular culture.
2019 saw the creation of works rich in geometric evolutions portraying modern women, telling new stories and establishing an immediate connection with the viewer.
The ladies in her paintings are elegant and confident – the glamour of designer fashion is an expression of desire, and they are stealing the show.
As such, they appeal to the viewers’ moods and emotions – they grab you, they look at you, and they draw you in.
“It is in the versatility of her words and in the eclecticism with which the artist rethinks the female codex, that her personality is distinguished, that covers every portrait, every painted detail, part of a broader narrative, still in progress, probably, which touches the soul and the life of every onlooker”
GALLERIA FARINI CONCEPT, June 2019
[Group exhibitions with GALLERIA FARINI CONCEPT where a large selection of her fashion portraits from 2014 to 2019 were well received in Paris, London, Bologna and Padua , Italy]

British artist Bettina Newbery's ART IN BLOOM 2020 series comprises delicate portraits and flower conceptes.
The BLOOMS 2020 series is an elegant and vibrant blend of florals and faces, celebrating diverse expressions of modern femininity / masculinity where the world is a universe of shapes, and geometry is visual poetry.
The 2020 BLOOM set comprises delicate portraits and flower concepts, celebrating diverse expressions of modern femininity / masculinity where the world is a universe of shapes, and geometry is visual poetry. Inspired by the beauty of flowers, the paintings sweep away the conventions of colour, the colour changing moods of each portrait subtly alter the story it tells.
The most delicate pastels, the wildest neon brights, the most sensuous shades of reds, the most vibrant kaleidoscope shades and the boldest contrasts all exist side by side - because 'IN NATURE NOTHING EVER CLASHES'.

𝑩𝑳𝑶𝑶𝑴𝑺 𝑰𝑴𝑨𝑮𝑰𝑵𝑬𝑫 2021: 𝑨 𝑱𝑶𝑼𝑹𝑵𝑬𝒀 𝑰𝑵𝑻𝑶 𝑨𝑩𝑺𝑻𝑹𝑨𝑪𝑻𝑰𝑶𝑵
Comprising the period in which these works were made coincided with the beginning of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and a state of lockdown, meant a period of no distractions.
Inspired by artist's own garden flowers, the 2021 paintings enter a world of pure shapes, more intense colours and also new paired-down monochromes.
Finely drawn and coloured in a way that the painting may seem simple at first glimpse, but with each new glance, you enter a new colour sensation • BLOOMS as you have not imagined them before
• velvety and sumptuous blooms
• flamboyant yet delicate pastel coloured single blooms

ART CANDY 2022: Candy-coated • delicious • luscious • sweetened • syrupy
2022 sees the continuation of the BLOOMS theme, yet refining the abstraction and re-introducing striking feminine figures: supremely colourful, almost unreal flower arrangements that would be hard to top in terms of sheer opulence.
By exaggerating and inverting the colours, ramping up the contrast, colours and combinations creates a slightly surreal and other worldly aesthetic.
