Xawa Vella, class of 1992.
Born in Vigevano, she has been lucky enough to breath art since her childhood thanks to her father, who is passionate about photography and a painter.
She acquired the title of Graphic Designer and Photographer thanks to her studies at NABA in Milan and later at the Italian Institute of Photography (IIF).
She thus began to develop in the concrete her passion for art in all its forms.
POETICS
"Voli Pindarici" is the name given to Xawa Vella's first photo/collage project; works within which scenes follow one another in a seemingly irrational order and suggestion is worth more than a purely logical construction of content.
The artist makes the photographs and, at a later stage, cuts them out and rearranges them to create journeys with a dreamlike flavor.
Although the current and contemporary world influences her work and it is often present in her production, the artist finds retro aesthetics, identifiable from the 1920s to the 1960s, the most suitable material for creating elegant and imaginative worlds in which anything can happen. She carefully researches old photographs and, inspired by the elegance inherent in every gesture, pose, and situation, gives a completely new life to her digital collages.
