Federico Solmi (1973 Bologna) lives and works in New York. His art is a reference to the allegorical, theatrical and highly artificial battle paintings from the 14th century by Paolo Uccello. His artistic motifs and themes reach back to the time of the discovery of America by Christopher Columbus and the resulting consequences for indigenous peoples to today's political conditions in the USA. His exuberant compositions and colorfulness are a striking feature of his animated films. In contrast, there are highly sensitive drawings in white ink on a black background.
