Home Magazine Rep Ringel: Embracing Artistic Expression and Collaboration

Rep Ringel, a self-made man hailing from the Netherlands, was born and raised in an artistic family that nurtured his creativity from an early age. Growing up with a fashion designer mother and a poet father, he was given the freedom to explore his artistic soul, which has profoundly influenced his life and career choices.

Music became one of Rep's biggest passions as a teenager. Spending hours in record stores, he searched for new, original, and exceptional music. It was no surprise that he eventually embarked on a career as a DJ, seeking to share his love for music with the world.

Driven by his insatiable thirst for new challenges and artistic growth, Rep developed an interest in graphic design. Through education and internships, he honed his skills and established himself as a successful graphic designer. Founding his award-winning agency, Ringel Design, Rep primarily worked with clients in the fashion, beauty, and cosmetic industries.

However, Rep's desire to further expand his creative talents led him to the world of fine art. Inspired by his love for music, fashion, and design, he began creating large abstract paintings on canvas. His approach to painting is truly unique, as he immerses himself in one specific song or track while creating each artwork. The layers of music weave their way onto the canvas, bringing the paintings to life with a sense of depth, mystery, and rhythm. Initially drawing inspiration from earth tones, Rep now incorporates elements from other natural elements like water, fire, and air, resulting in artwork spanning blues, whites, and even orange-reds. To add an extra touch of distinction, Rep includes a chip on the painting with details about the artwork, including a certificate of authenticity and ownership sealed with wax. Each painting is named after the corresponding music piece or musician/composer, a tribute to the unique connection between sound and visual art.

Photography also became a medium for Rep to delve deeper into his own work. Through capturing detailed shots of his paintings, he discovered new perspectives, zooming in on specific elements and experiencing the layers in a fresh light. The result is a series of photos that stand on their own, dissociated from their original artwork. These limited edition photos come in two formats: "Silence," featuring glossy smaller-sized prints, and "Silence Gold," showcasing larger matte prints. The details of each photo represent specific sounds from the interconnected track associated with the original artwork.

Within the realm of art, Rep's creativity knows no bounds. His latest innovation, the MUDA series, embraces recycling and upcycling techniques, utilizing carton sheets that were previously used as painting palettes for his "Art Driven by Music" series. These carton sheets are transformed into small triangles, carefully folded, and adorned with delicate strokes of 24K gold. The resulting artworks showcase a stunning contrast between recycled materials and the radiance of gold. Through MUDA, Rep aims to promote sustainability by breathing new life into discarded materials while celebrating the elegance of 24K gold. Each artwork captures the essence of diverse natural environments, inviting viewers on a visual journey inspired by landscapes from around the globe.

Beyond his solo exhibitions, Rep Ringel also collaborates with other artists, presenting duo or group shows at art fairs and exhibitions under the umbrella of Rep Ringel Art. These collaborations empower artists to showcase a cohesive yet diverse series of artworks, encouraging connections and unity within the art community. Rep believes that together, artists, art lovers, and collectors can create a stronger, more enriching experience.
