About the fair

As you may well know, the last couple of years were definitely marked by a change in both society and the art world. Influenced by previous social and political measures such as the pandemic, 2022 saw a rise in attendance at performative events, conferences and cultural gatherings.  This said, (un)fair’s first edition saw more than 60 participating national and international galleries as well as 8000 visitors – accompanied by a full-guest programme and extensive press coverage.

As preparations are now underway for the 2023 edition, the non-fair art fair, will take place from the 3rd to the 5th March 2023. This year’s edition will commit to expose 70 galleries with worldwide provenance, exposing both well-established artists and emerging talents with exhibition projects capable of recounting the contemporary era. The fair will have a special focus towards sustainability, gender equality and cultural diversity. In 2023, the fair was also designed to boost its international network and relied on a collaboration with Art Run Agency to zero on it. The agency was able to support the selection of the fair’s international galleries.

The second edition of the fair introduces new themes and focuses, i.e. (un)framed, curated by Andrea Lacarpia, that can be described as a lookout of different types of spaces such as project spaces, independent spaces and artist run spaces whose aim is to promote contemporary art, with particular emphasis towards Italian culture and last-generation artists. Following, (un)limited by Chiara Pozzi, a new selection with Illustrazioni Seriali, dedicated to galleries exposing original and limited-edition artworks, integrating a wide range of mediums such as works on paper, painting, illustration, graphics, prints and digital art. From unique pieces to edition artworks, (un)limited will serve as an overview of the quality of printing techniques offered in today’s art scene. Instead, (un)choices, curated by Domenico de Chirico and Marialuisa Pastò, will bring to light a selection of the most promising contemporary artworks among those presented in the General Programme of the fair. This space will aspire to give visibility to wide-reaching artists whose works mostly share a concern towards issues of our time.

Among the new features is UNFAIR+, a new programme which encourages companies to support the participating galleries. The programme builds new synergies between galleries and companies to support artistic production within the contemporary market, as well as uncover the prominence of culture within the corporate world.

When mentioning gallery-fair relationships, (un)fair is the ultimate innovator as it aims to involve a large network of companies willing to support contemporary art.  Applications for galleries are open until 15 December 2022, so secure your spot!
