Ricardo Candia, began his training at the Escuela Argentina de Fotografía, Buenos Aires, Argentina, and later received a Latin American Master's Degree in Contemporary Photography from the Centro de la Imagen, Lima, Peru. His work as a photographer is developed through alternative photography and new media. In his practice he proposes various experiments applied to the image, seeking to deconstruct the traditional aesthetic formality through an approach to the objectual nature of photography. To this end, he intervenes in archives, uses different printing methods and supports -including sculptures-, makes use of infrared photography, and in some series combines this expressive language with other media such as installation and new media. This experimental research allows him to address, from a different and plural photographic vocabulary, issues related to the symbolic value of indigenous peoples, migratory processes and the extraction of natural resources, as well as other contemporary issues that challenge him as an artist.
