The still life is a photographic genre that nowadays occupies little space in the photographic spectrum when compared to street photography, landscape or portraiture. But it has always been there since the beginnings of photography. I vindicate the still life. I have always been attracted by those everyday objects that we see every day at home and that hardly ever deserve a photo. Simple objects, a forgotten glass on the table after a meal, a vase with flowers, a bottle, a cup, fruit, and in general anything that catches my eye and I think could make an interesting photo. Nothing prepared, they are just there, although many of them have the same space in common, a glass table in the living room. The result was a series of photos that the artist started a few years ago, which he called casual still lifes. With the first confinement, due to the impossibility of going outside, and also as a personal therapy to overcome the COVID and the pain caused, he resumed the series, this time with more intentionality, but always looking for simplicity and cleanliness in the compositions. With few elements as a common denominator, and always with a minimalist look, both in B&W and colour. He uses natural light and black and white film mainly and, on some occasions, also colour film. The final result is prints printed by me on 100% cotton and acid-free Hahnemühle MG Art paper, emulsified by Ilford with silver gelatine, and selenium-coated for better preservation. The colour photos are printed with pigmented inks on acid-free, lignin-free Hahnemühle Willian Turner cotton paper. They conform to the ISO 9706 standard, and museum quality for maximum resistance to ageing. All of them have in common the size of the stain, (28x18 approx. on 24x30 paper) on a generous 40x50 acid-free passe-partout, so that the viewer, at a distance of 1 metre, has practically the same visual perspective with which I took the picture. The frames are made of 44x15mm walnut laminated wood, with single 2mm glass and a 1cm window-like cut-out.
