Existential metamodern poetic colorful playful, Engelund’s new paintings go further into the visceral encounters with paint and text as his landscapes now abstract into consciousness via a playful cosmos. Asphalt Abstracted Ad Astra.
Engelund seamlessly juxtaposes contradictory notions of painting, from zen-like hand-less aretê to childlike technê, while embracing the range of simple pleasures of, to the ab-ex impact of color. Text in Engelund’s new works becomes more prominent than his previous work ranging from poetic playfulness to addressing philosophical problems.
