Donatella Izzo was born in 1979 and is one of the most interesting artists in the emerging Italian scene. She began her career devoting herself to painting, but soon photography became the privileged medium with which she builds an entire iconographic paradigm, rich in symbolism and metaphors, totally divorced from any didactic intent.

As an uneasy and passionate author, with her images she wants to induce the user to rediscover past moods and atmospheres. Her language is composed, elegant but extremely determined. Her photographs are an exemplary transposition of the torment and conflict that characterize his inner condition.

In her latest project No-Portraits, her great aesthetic mastery and photographic medium are evident. The artist's attention is in all phases of the work, from pre-production to production and post-production. The photography becomes only the last piece of an artistic sequence that includes interventions such as painting, collage and abrasion.
The focus of the project is on new reading codes that crumble the classical concept of portrait as a "copy" in favor of an "anti-portrait", that is an introspective analysis of the depicted subject, almost always female, a universe from which Izzo is inspired and to which she gives particular attention. Women suspended in a sacred instant, almost non-interpretable, but still alive because aesthetically reshaped.

Donatella Izzo has participated in collective exhibitions both in Italy and abroad: Angel Orensanz Foundation (New York, 2013), Fabbrica del Vapore (Milan, 2015) Among the personal exhibitions: Galeria Fotografi Miasta (Polonia- Rzeszòw, 2014), Akashi Gallery ( Barcelona, 2014), Espacio 8 (Madrid, 2014), Beauchamp (London, 2011).
