"Painting is always going further, in a work never finished."
"Painting is in my eyes a quest for emotions and feelings. A fight for life, for art, for the imagination, in a work always in search, in research, of "to make live."
Julie Fournier, alias Bellule, grew up in an artistic universe with a painter mother and a musician father. She graduated from the Beaux Arts d'Angers in 2011, before perfecting her technique in the studio of a hyperrealist painter.
Very quickly, this passionate young woman feels that she must fly on her own and find her true style. Expressionism inspires her as well as the battle with the material, this physical need to play with it to get the essence of her emotion out of it.
Her influences are multiple, because for her, "painting is timeless and never stops being and to be reborn".
In her expressionist work, from figurative to abstract, an imaginative, sensitive and detail-oriented personality shines through. Bellule draws her inspiration from her own feelings but also from the external energies that feed her creativity. She loves to travel and get lost in nature to fill her head with images and sensations that cultivate her imagination.
Portraiture has been her favorite theme for many years, where she expresses her fascination with the expression of human sensitivity and how it can manifest itself in a look, behind the features of a face. Over time, Bellule has narrowed the gap between figuration and abstraction, creating portraits with a freer interpretation. The faces become fragmented, hidden, the portrait is no longer the only subject of the work and the work aims, beyond the representation, to express states of mind, the facets of a being. She likes to study the idea of what is shown, what is, what is seen, what is imagined, what is interpreted...
Emotion is the heart of her work as in her Urbex series, disused interiors with a particular atmosphere where nature takes over, leaving all the room to the imagination, through games of depth and perspectives, atmospheres between reality and fiction that give us the feeling of traveling through the painting.
Finally, since 2020, Bellule has been using her experiments with matter in a more intuitive painting, abstractions, imaginary worlds in 3 dimensions in which she puts all her creative energy according to her feelings, her experience to transmit us all the power and upset our senses with generosity and sincerity.
Bellule tries to "activate" an inner dialogue in the viewer, whether he is conscious or not, and to make the moving magic of painting act on him. The important thing for her is to challenge, to touch, to upset the senses and to create an internal dialogue by mixing aestheticism and emotion by mixing strength and delicacy. The first impact at the sight of the work is primordial because it results from direct instinctive emotional effects.
ARTISTIC INFLUENCES :
Artists such as Munch, Turner, Van Gogh, Kandinsky, Yan Pei-Ming, Jenny Saville, lyrical abstract painters such as Georges Mathieu, Hartung inspire her and immerse her in their universe.
