Roosmarijn Pallandt (Netherlands,1977) is a visual artist who has developed a distinct artistic research methodology, exploring the ambiguous intersections of reality, memory and landscape and their representations. Experimenting with various media and printing techniques, Pallandt examines concepts of place through texture and patterns. The recollection of memories and myths becomes an act of transformation rather than mere reproduction. Collaborating with indigenous communities, Pallandt co-creates a varied body of work, including installations comprising analogue photography, film, audio, and textile sculptures. She has immersed herself in biotopes as diverse as the deserts, jungles and mountains of Japan, Tibet, Iran, and Mexico, among other places. Her work has won numerous awards and has been widely exhibited internationally. Currently she is preparing a solo exhibition for the Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology (Japan) based on recent works that take place under the water surface. Her work is held in several private and public collections throughout Europe and Japan.
