Carina Söderström is an artist who is working with oilpainting, graphics and drawing. Motifs are often vulnerability, sensuality and melancholy, expressed by a strong palette and sensitive lines. These works are mainly people, who always are interpreted with their personality. The artist wishes to reach beyond the surface, that is to express their feelings, minds and situations. Growing things also draw attention and these works have inherent emotions and spirit in them.
Hence Carina Söderström calls her practice emotive art.
The art is emerging from the life of her own which often reflects back to others ́ experiences.
The artist often works on big canvases, and likes to let lines and colors cooperate together with contrasts and rythm.
Carina Söderström is living and working in Sweden althow the heritage is in Finland and Greece.
Exhibitions have been in Stockholm, Helsinki, Milan, Amsterdam, London and Basel (online exhibition) amongst others.
Educated at Stockholm University, Hertfordshire College of Art and Design in London and Beckman ́s School of Art and Design in Stockholm.
2017 she won the title Swedish-Finnish artist of the year. The artist is represented in several public places such as schools and nursing homes
