Openings at institutions, project spaces, private collectors around the city… the German capital is getting ready for the 6th edition of Berlin Art Week. This year, the art week also presents the anticipated new art fair – Art Berlin.

 What about events and major shows?

The KINDL Centre for Contemporary Art has invited the artist Haegue Yang to produce a single, large-scale artwork site-specific. A striking 20-meter-high space. The artist will employ her intimate memories of the “aggressive industrial development in South Korea in the 970s and 1980s”.

For the Berlinische Galerie, Monica Bonvicini has produce a site-specific installation.

At Schering Stiftung, the contemporary American artist and filmmaker London-based Daria Martin will present her new film called “A Hunger Artist”.

A selection of works by the Dutch artist Willem de Rooji - that go through the past 20 years - will be presented in a new context at KW Institute for Contemporary Art.

At Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, Harun Farocki - who has produced over than 100 experimental documentary films, essays, shorts - will present a retrospective of his work.

With his orchestrated performances, Boris Charmaz - a French choreographer - transforms the traditional dance. For the Berlin Art Week, he will present A Dancer’s Day, employing a cast of thirty dancers.

Miet Warlop returns to HAU Hebbel am Ufer to present a retrospective of her “portraits of decade”, a series of three individual work which she produced for the institution periodically over a span of five years.
