Opened in 1986 with an exhibition of François Morellet, with time Oniris Gallery has become an influential player in the realm of contemporary art in the western part of France. For three decades, the history of the Oniris gallery reveals the special attention given to the study of contemporary art in the field of abstraction in Europe by painting, drawing and sculpture with a philosophy consisting of exhibiting regularly recent works from a core group of thirty artists. The artists represented demonstrate an incontestable quality of work, an engaged commitment to permanent research, and works which are a benchmark in the world of contemporary art today. Oniris Gallery is regularly taking part to European Art Fairs for more than 20 years three to five times a year in addition to the 5 to 7 exhibitions at the gallery. Since 2012, Florent Paumelle runs the gallery with the wish to respect the relationship between the work of established artists with that of a younger generation of emerging artists who share a common conceptual language.
