Alvar Beyer was born in Weimar in 1970. He studied painting and graphic arts at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig from 1991 to 1996, among others with Neo Rauch. In 1996/97 he was a student at the École des Beaux Arts de Lyon in France and from 1996/98 a master student at the Academy of Visual Arts.
The artist's pictorial worlds visualise imposing landscape scenarios in which collected impressions and feelings from journeys through largely untouched nature find artistic expression. The use of bright colours, sometimes neon colours and pure gold, exaggerates the effect of the natural landscapes. This contrary fusion makes for an exciting break with the traditions of the landscape genre and makes Alvar Beyer's works unique.
