Artistic Hand Build, Slab Technique, Stoneware, Electrical Firing, 1250 C

1969 Eskişehir, Turkey

She identify as a multi-discipline ceramics and sculpture artist whose creative work consists mainly of clay and porcelain and includes working on canvas using acrylics, charcoal, watercolor, ink, pigments and resin. Besides having collectors and museums display her work, she also actively works with galleries, design accessories for brands and create large-scale works for companies.

High-heat porcelain and stoneware clay are the main materials she uses for her ceramics sculptures. Porcelain’s qualities such as being refined, thin and semi-transparent help her express her thoughts better in her art. She enjoys the challenges that come with artistically shaping this material on large scales. She feels as if using moulds restricts her and prefers not to use them unless needed. Seeing her fingerprints and the marks of her touch on the clay is extremely inspiring to her.

She believes that artistic creation cannot be separated from philosophy and thought. Reading and doing the research before moving on to creation is of great importance to her. This is the reason why she has studied philosophy, the ontology of art, the history of thought and the science of aesthetics since her early career and will continue to do so. As an artist, she prioritizes having an ideology and story behind her work.

As of present, the 5 collections of her works branch out to different stories yet meet at a common denominator; being human. Her ideas first come to fruition with the collection “Dancers”, which symbolizes spirituality through the wisdom of the Sufi philosophy. She finds the plasticity of clay beneficial for expression. She aimed to express the experiences of materialism in the collection “Warriors”. The “Roots” collection is about the tradition and culture in our genes. Finally, her last collection “Scent” symbolizes the moments we remember through the sense of smell.
