Theodor Luke Feininger, son of Lyonel Feininger was born in in 1910, when his father was teaching at the Bauhaus there, where his son was also educated. Annual trips with the family to Treptow, at the mouth of the Rega River. Like his father, Luke Feininger was enthusiastic about sailing. He produced numerous ship paintings until his emigration. After 1930 he traveled to Paris for a few years to further his education. After that until his emigration (ca.1936) to America, resident in Berlin. Theodor Lux-Feininger was a lecturer at the Fogg Museum of Harvard University from 1950 and then until 1975 as a teacher of painting and drawing at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in
Boston.
