Porcelain stoneware and blue ceramic pigment
, Italy
Simone Negri developed his interest in the expressive possibilities of ceramics, at first using smoking firing techniques and later with personal research on high-temperature single firing.
Since 1998 he began to exhibit his works in public spaces and art galleries.
His work gains notoriety in the Italian ceramic art scene thanks to awards and prizes received in prestigious national events.
Over the years he has taken part in numerous exhibitions including “Lo Stato dell’Arte” at the 54th Venice Biennale in 2011, “Contemporary Ceramic Sculpture” at the National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome in 2015, and “Fittile” at the Milan Triennale in 2021.
His works can be found in international private and museum collections.
Time is the expressive focus of Simone’s work. Simple and pure archaic forms related to the oriental world receive shades and streaks of blue pigment that recall the stratification and transformation induced by the passage of time.
