About the Artist

1967 Torino, Italy

Since he was very young, Grassino's father Alfred introduced him to art disciplines. In 1984 he enrolled at artistic highschool where he created close working ties with some of the major Italian artists, such as Marco Gastini, Luigi Mainolfi, Gilberto Zorio e Sergio Ragalzi.

From 1988, he exhibits at both personal and collective exhibitions and in 1991 he enrolled at Accademia Albertina of Turin together with Luisa Rabbia, Saverio Todaro, Domenico Borrelli, creating a working group sharing the first laboratories.

In 2000, Gam in Turin dedicated him a personal exhibition, which created more awareness about his artistic reasearch across national and international galleries and institutions.

In 2005, he realized the great installation Armilla on Fondazione Palazzo Bricherasio’s facade, in Turin, and in 2008 Lorand Hegiy invited him to France for a personal exhibition in Saint-Etienne Museum. In 2008 he joined the XV Quadriennale d’Arte in Rome. Luca Massimo Barbero in 2011 dedicated to him a solo room at MACRO in Rome and the same year he joined the Quarta Biennale in Moscow.

Again in 2011, his artworks are presented in international museums such as Frost Art Museum of Miami and Loft Project ETAGI of Saint Petersburg. Phillip Van den Bossche invited him to Beaufort 04-Triennial of Contemporary Art by the Sea 2012 edition in Ostenda, and in 2013 IIC in Madrid dedicated to him a personal exhibition.

In 2013, a book by Skira has been published, which includes his most remarkable works from 1992 to 2012, and it was presented at the personal exhibition “Percorso in tre atti” in the location of Centro d’arte contemporanea Luigi Pecci in Milan. In 2013 he started an academic career as a professor in the school of sculpture in Accademie di Belle Arti, first in Carrara then in Palermo.

In 2017, Casa Fiati de Cultura a Belo Horizonte in Brazil dedicated to him a personal exhibition and his artworks became part of the Parkview Museum collection of Singapore and Beijing. Together with Gisella Chaudry in 2018 founded NewGAP, a working group committed in promoting and disclosing the newest artistic contemporary researches.

In 2019, he realized a great personal exhibition in the historical lounges of Palazzo Saluzzo Paesana, show that involved several artworks which characterized the artist’s studies among 30 years of research, and again, the same year, he joined the big thematic exhibition “Disturbing Narrative” in the rooms of Parkview Museum in Singapore.
