  • About the work
Medium: copper. Leaves, and we "like the leaves", quoting the verses of the Greek poet Mimnermo. Passionate as Ulisse Aldrovandi to the diversity of the living world, Zamboni has been producing copper leaves for over forty years, unique works of different shapes and sizes, none like the other, in the margins, in the ribs. Their creation evokes an ancient, possible or imaginary rite. The fire of the oxydric flame, guided in unrepeatable arabesques, pierces the metal plate: the disintegration of the surface returns, in an immediate process of identification, to the transience of human existence. They are sculptures of vanitas, of refined execution and moving beauty, which encourage reflection on the passing of time, on the expectation of an inescapable destiny.

About the Artist

1943 , Italy

Nicola Zamboni was born in Bologna on May 10, 1943. Once he completed his studies and the military service, he enrolled at the Academy of fines arts of Bologna, but feeling dissatisfied with the context and the relationships with teachers, he dropped out it at the third year.
