Alejandro Sepúlveda Herrera (Santiago, Chile, 1983)
Urban Photographer, Architect from the University of Chile and Master in Architecture from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. Passionate about combining these disciplines, for being a way of revealing the world, questioning oneself and generating actions that provide solutions in a balance between technique and art.
In relation to photography, it is of his special interest to investigate, visualize and reveal the relationships between inhabitants, territory, city and architecture. He usually affirms that photography was his first profession, since since he was a child he walked around with his camera (a gift from my parents) and that of possessing great curiosity, characteristics that accompany him to this day.
In 2015, he presented the exhibition Walking through history that was not (photographic tour of the former Ochagavía Hospital), in the photographic gallery of the Santiago Library.
In 2016, he organized the round tables Limitations as a cause of inspiration in photography, August Sander Face of Our Time and L'Aventure Moderne by Henri Cartier-Bresson at the Foto-cine Club de Chile. The same year, he studied black and white photography at the Workshop of renowned photographers Luis Poirot and Fernanda Larraín.
During the 2019-2020 period, he lived in the city of Valdivia, where he taught in the Alta-UACH Valdivia program of the Austral University of Chile, with the courses: The Photographic Character of the City Summer 2020 and The Photographic Character of the City: Rear Window Fall Semester 2020.
Currently, he resides in the City of Santiago (Chile), where Grupo Análogo develops both Photography and Architecture projects.
Alejandro Sepúlveda's photography focuses on architecture, the city, the territory and its inhabitants; specifically “the photographic character of the city”, (an idea that has been developing and evolving over time).
