Romano Rizzato Lotto was born in 1932 in Dueville, in the province of Vicenza. He graduated from the Art Institute "G. Selvatico" of Padua, then attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice.
His debut was in 1953 with participation in the First National Exhibition of Painting Prize Manerbio which was held in Rome.
The following year is selected, among one thousand four hundred competitors, by a committee composed by Carlo Carrà, Renato Guttuso, Mario Sironi to participate in the Second National Exhibition of Contemporary Painting Prize Marzotto, hosted at the Royal Palace in Milan.
In 1958 he settled in Vicenza where he founded with colleagues the group La Bilancia, with the intent to contribute to renew the cultural climate of the city. He currently divides his time between Rome, Venice and Vicenza.
