Rebecca Munday’s current work investigates the body as a site of transformation, contradiction and abstraction through the duality and theatricality of identity, gender and the human experience, as well as playfully interrogating the role of the gaze. Combining her archive of found imagery, symbolism, items of wardrobe and make-up, imagination and memory, she transforms herself into an array of fictitious characters, creating thought-provoking narratives that are at once eerie, cinematic and surreal, allowing the audience to engage and interpret the works in their own way.
