Born in 1981, Ram Dongre did his Bachelors and Masters from Chhattisgarh. He also won the Lalit Kala National Award in 2009. Ram Dongre was inspired a group of artists known as the Young British Artists, growing up in the 1990s. The most famous member of YBAs is arguably Damien Hirst. 

Ram Dongre has spent most of his life around nature, Nature is what inspires him, and that is why he prefers to work in his village. His works portrays the creativity of nature and its nurturing yet every changing elements. He manages to create and perfect balance between the old and new - using traditional forms and motifs with abstract forms. His base subject remains traditional yet his works are very contemporary.

The artist lives and works in Bhopal.
