Pierdonato Taccogna was born in Triggiano (BA) in 1990. After graduating from the high school "G. De Nittis" he continued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bari. In 2014 he suspended this path to devote himself entirely to art and deepen the study of painting techniques through historical research. Later, he participated in various competitions and group exhibitions at national level, gaining the attention of professionals and undertaking a series of collaborations with them.
His poetics makes use of two fundamental elements: light and matter. The first is treated almost like an obsession since it stems from a particular experience of the artist, lived in 2005, which led him to investigate the world out of reality, looking for those flashes and evanescences typical of the subconscious sphere and living in the first and third-person visions inclusive of sounds and scents, almost as if they were otherworldly fash. While the attraction for the material starts from the preparation of the frame, up to the last layer of paint.
Taccogna does not use colors or other industrial materials, everything is prepared in his atelier following the ancient artistic recipes, and continuing the study and experimentation of the painting techniques. His keen interest in "particles" led him to investigate the cosmos, starting from the study of the material structure and the laws that govern the universe conceived as an ordered whole, in reference to space, time and matter.
