Oana Maria Pop (born 7 September 1989) is a Romanian painter based in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. She studied at the University of Fine Arts and Design in Cluj-Napoca where for her BA and MA probed the conflict, dreams, mass identity, and shifting cultural trends in the wake of political and social upheavals. During her studies she was granted an Erasmus scholarship in Italy at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia and in Germany at Tanya Leighton Gallery, Berlin. Through her work, Oana explores her culture’s dreary past and exposes it’s bleak present, in works that are characterised by the representation of barren environments with recurring characters that show no proof of legitimate identity.
