Nicola Bolla was born in Saluzzo (Italy) in 1963. He is the son of a well-known and versatile painter, who introduced him to the world of ancient and modern art. His mother is a creative artist, with experience as a stage designer and painter. He has been immediately fascinated by the world of collecting and Wunderkammer, starting to collect antique and curious objects. His work has always been inspired by a parallel reconstruction of reality through the tools of painting, sculpture and installations.

Several important solo exhibitions in private galleries in Milan and New York, between 2000 and 2007. In 2008, the year of the Sperone Westwater exhibition curated by Luca Beatrice, he exhibited at the Goss Foundation in Dallas. In 1995, his art landed at the Venice Biennale and returned in the 2009 edition (Italian Pavilion). Moreover, he has recently exhibited his large-scale installations and sculptures made with playing cards at the MART in Rovereto, while other works based on the systematic use of Swarovski crystals and playing cards are currently at the Palazzo Reale in Turin, in the group show "ANIMALIA.Animali a corte", and at the Reggia di Venaria.
His poetics and art have led the author to gain success in Italy and Europe, as well as receiving global acclaim over the past 10 years, with participation in solo and group exhibitions in the USA and China. His works are included in important institutional and private collections.
