Marcela Silvestre was born on April 29, 1989 in Guayaquil, Ecuador. He is currently studying Visual Arts at the University of the Arts of Ecuador. She is recognized for being a versatile artist. His art fuses popular culture with textiles, exploring themes such as love, sexual pleasure, and intimate encounters with couples. Thread, scraps of used clothing and paper are characteristic materials in his paintings, installations and drawings.
In his works, each textile layer keeps secret stories; Their pieces together visually create a script with a beginning, climax and outcome. The use of phrases and subtle details, the loose and frayed threads have a deep meaning. “I want my work to acquire a life of its own, to tell stories and its skin (fabrics) to mutate over time.”
