In 1990, he was invited by the gallery owner Paulo Cesar to be part of the paintings of the Bourguese gallery. It was there that Mondego definitively left the press and devoted himself entirely to painting. In 1995, he had his first solo show at Galeria Bourguese in Shopping da Gávea.
