Lillian started painting at the age of 9 and at the age of 19 she had her first solo exhibition. She is best known for her contemporary oil painting portraits, and her immense talent and contagious
energy has landed her in many public speaking roles as well as being featured on TV shows and in newspapers and magazines. Her artworks are created with a sense of openness and ambiguity that allows for discussion and interpretation. “This facet exposes our biases and often leads to deeper conversations about what it means to be human” says Lillian. Lillian started teaching art in 2015 and established the Lillian Gray Art School with her husband in 2016. She loves empowering people through art, teaching them new skills and creating a love for art history.
Lillian’s artworks have been consistently exhibited between 2006 and 2021 in numerous prestigious exhibitions around South Africa, as well as in New York, London and Florence.
