Jamie Boyd was born in Melbourne in 1948. His family moved to London in 1959 and he studied briefly there in the 1960s at the Central School of Art and Design. As a painter, he continues the Boyd family tradition that has collectively made a profound contribution to Australian art. However, it is equally significant that Jamie Boyd has established his own reputation as a painter in his own right.
He lived most of his adult life in London, returning periodically to Australia where he reunited with the landscapes of Shoalhaven with its most intangible beauty and strength. His unmistakable work, however, reflects his abiding influence of Australian landscapes.
