Ismail Awi was born in 1987, in Terengganu. He is a Malaysian artist who graduated from UiTM, Shah Alam in 2010. His passion for painting has been in him ever since he first held a brush. His work connects various messages which he cleverly portrays in his artwork.
Ismail Awi actively participates in art exhibitions, since 2006. The up-and-coming artist was among 12 artists featured in the Tanah Air Ku showcase at the Malaysian Embassy in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. It was organized by Galeri Chandan and all the works belong to the Embassy. In July-August 2016, Ismail's work also made it to the Curate Henry Butcher exhibition called A Raya Celebration of Generations in Art, and in January 2018, The Young Contempo Showcase II (organized by Curate Henry Butcher) held at Galeri Prima.
