Francesco Musante (Genoa 1950) is the painter of fairy tales . His works, studded with fantastic men , night skies and bright and surreal colors , refer the observer to the dreamy atmosphere of childhood. Its tendency to accompany images with phrases, poetic verses, song lyrics, dates back to the influence of Pop Artfrom the 1970s, a period in which he experimented with color, approaching abstractionism and Rauschenberg's Combine Paintings. Artist who uses the most varied techniques and supports throughout his career, from watercolor to engraving, from collage to oil on canvas, table, paper, ceramics. After his experience as an engraver in the first half of the 1970s, Musante devoted himself completely to figurative painting. At first his elegant female figures are very close to the style of Gustav Klimt and the Viennese Secession, then he embarks on the path of the fairy tale painter who made him famous. He dedicates a cycle to the "Spoon River Anthology" and one to "Alice in Wonderland" and illustrates numerous storybooks and exhibits in Italy (Rome, Milan, Prato, Verona, Bologna, Turin, Florence) and abroad (Berlin, Paris,.
