  • About the Artist

Born in Siracusa in 1929 from Sicilian parents. In 1934 he was in Livorno with his family where he spent his childhood and youth. He begins to paint self-taught. By family tradition, he completed classical studies and enrolled in the Faculty of Law of the University of Pisa. The meeting with Mario Nigro makes him decide which way to go. He starts organizing exhibitions and cultural meetings, but it is his acquaintance and friendship with Gianni Bertini that suggests he leave the province for the artistic adventure in Paris, Milan, Rome, Bologna. In these cities he will then elect his residences, preferring, in the summer, to study on the island of Favignana. For several years we have found it in Pianoro Vecchio, a residential area on the hill, on the Via Toscana, which leads to the Futa pass and, in the summer, the studio in Misano Adriatico and on the island of Ischia.
