Célia Nkala was born in 1983 and lives and works in Paris.
After studying Fine Arts at the Sorbonne, Design and then Textile Design (Esad, Reims and Lisaa, Paris), she works for several years in the house of Christian Lacroix as a textile designer.
In 2013, she founded the Perception Park gallery dedicated to emerging creation, in the 5th district of Paris.
From 2016, she decided to devote herself to her own practice.
The numerous series on which Célia Nkala works testify to a research close to the investigation.
They constitute a set that focuses on an axis that can be defined as anthropological because the artist tends, in her words, to "identify the signs of a universal logic" and questions the relationship to archaic practices, ritual and our propensity to endow objects with a strong symbolic charge.
In residence at the Villa Belleville in 2018, she is one of the artists selected for the 2021 edition of the Montrouge exhibition.
Célia Nkala is represented in Paris by the DA-End gallery.
