Alfred Rece is a Romanian painter born 1969 in Craiova. In 1993 he received his B.A. in painting from the "Nicolae Grigorescu" National Art Academy in Bucharest. His works are in museums and private collections in the Craiova Art Museum, the Bucharest National Art Museum, Germany, Italy, USA, Austria, Romania, Portugal, Japan and France. In his new series New Mankind the artist wants to draw attention to the transformation of humanity. How the situations we live in, our political systems, pragmatic thinking, changed how we perceived one another and our environment. In his paintings he combines known images of the past with contemporary images, presenting a striking contrast between our past and present. The message of this series is that we should hold on to our empathy, perhaps the most important quality of our time.
