Jean Feinberg è un pittore astratto americano che utilizza pittura, legno, tela e carta per esplorare l'intersezione tra pittura e oggetto. Istruzione
Jean Feinberg ha conseguito la laurea in Belle Arti presso lo Skidmore College a nord dello stato di New York e ha conseguito il Master of Art in pittura presso l'Hunter College. Feinberg ha insegnato o tenuto conferenze presso la Parsons School of Design, Princeton, il Chicago Art Institute e la Rhode Island School of Design, tra gli altri. Attualmente insegna disegno e pittura al Fashion Institute of Technology di New York.
Tecnica
Feinberg lavora con una varietà di tecniche e mezzi, tra cui pittura, collage di carta e installazione. La maggior parte del suo lavoro incorpora l'applicazione di vernice, gesso, tela e altri mezzi per fondere e recuperare il legno.
Il suo processo si traduce in dipinti astratti, a volte chiamati costruzioni, che utilizzano l'astrazione geometrica e lussureggianti, drammatici modelli di colore per esplorare le relazioni tra colore, materiale e spazio.
Il lavoro sfida i punti di riferimento oggettivi, evocando invece qualità meditative e facilitando le esplorazioni emotive.
Ispirazione
Feinberg trae ispirazione dal suo ambiente, in particolare, l'interazione di luce e colore nella Hudson Valley a nord di New York. È anche guidata nelle sue scelte cromatiche e nelle decisioni compositive dal legno, dai trucioli di vernice e da altri materiali trovati che incorpora nelle sue costruzioni.
Ispirate alle nozioni di paesaggio, natura, tempo, spazio e sentimento, le costruzioni astratte di Feinberg comunicano sentimenti sulla collaborazione del materialismo creato dall'uomo con elementi più trascendenti della natura.

Il suo lavoro è raccolto dal collezionista d'arte e filantropo Werner Kramarsky ed è anche incluso nella collezione della Weatherspoon Art Gallery dell'Università della Carolina del Nord a Greensboro.
