The young generation always has its finger on the pulse: they don’t just try to grasp the present, they create it”, Joanna Kamm, Director of Liste Art Fair Basel.

The Liste Art Fair in Basel is an ideal platform for those who are eager to engage in something fresh by showcasing outstanding galleries and the latest developments in contemporary art. Founded in 1996, Liste has now become a well-established space. It is the central space for young international art – a reference point for the art world.

Although it takes place, in an impressive circular architecture designed last year, as a parallel to the core Art Basel, this art fair deserves to receive just as much attention.

Liste Art Fair Basel brings together current trends, young voices, and different perspectives. Cutting-edge contemporary art for those looking for the New. This fair exists “not only reflect on our present but also help create it.” It represents an invitation to come together, think, reflect, and act on our world.

In fact, it is truly creating our present. None of the participating galleries will show work by Russian artists this year, in solidarity with Ukraine.

New York and Moscow-based Fragment, as well as Moscow-based Osnova are giving up their booths to Ukrainian galleries. And two galleries from Kyiv, The Naked Room (behind the Ukrainian pavilion at the Venice Biennale) and the Voloshyn Gallery will not have to pay participation fees.

Liste is home to the rising galleries and artists of the contemporary art world, and this distinguishes it from other art fairs. In fact, young galleries find room to shine the spotlight on emerging talents in this art fair. An incredible selection is on show this year. 82 galleries, of which 20 are new to the art fair, from 37 countries, will display works by 111 artists in Hall 1.1 of Messe Basel.

Additionally, a new project has been added to the fair: ‘Rewriting our Imaginations’. “’Rewriting Our Imaginations’ showed what new imaginations, new futures might look like when what was previously fictional is transformed into something real” (Joanna Kamm, Director of Liste Art Fair Basel).

Exploring new modes of production, presentation and distribution, every artist designed a poster to be sold on-site and on Liste Showtime, either as prints or as PDFs. Indeed, alongside the physical fair in the Swiss city, there is a digital edition of the fair, Liste Showtime.

«We developed a digital platform, called Liste Showtime, which works as an online viewing room, with a special focus on introducing artists” (Joanna Kamm, Director of Liste Art Fair Basel).

Without requiring a physical presence, Liste Showtime extends the international network around the art fair. It provides a curated overview of new voices in contemporary art, going beyond the physical.

A digital research forum, Liste Expedition, was also launched in 2021. This increases the impact of the fair by providing a platform to overcome restrictions.

Liste Art Fair Basel 2022 brings together these three different formats, to reinforce the sense of community at the art fair as well as extend their outreach.

In Basel, a Sculpture Plaza in the art fair does this the physical. Indeed, above all art fairs are spaces for human connections, social exchanges, and dialogue.

Running from Tuesday the 13th of June, to Saturday the 18th of June 2022, the fair is open from 12 am to 8 pm. On Sunday, the 19th of June, it will be open from 11 am to 4 pm.
