Home Magazine Chiara Parisi recently appointed as a new director of Center Pompidou Metz

The first news is linked to Chiara Parisi that next week, on 28 November, will be officially hired as a new Director for the Center Pompidou Metz. Well, it's definitely a busy season for the French Institution that just a few days ago officialized the opening of Centre Pompidou West Bund in Shanghai, China.

The rumours gathered by the French newspaper Le Figaro seem to be confirmed by the president of Metz Métropole, Jean-Luc Bohl, who later announced to the press "Chiara Parisi was a unanimous choice among six candidates from all over the world". The Italian curator was born in 1970 in Rome, and only at the age of 49 years old, she could boast a bright career. From 2000 Paris has played the rule of curator for Villa De Medici, French Academy in Rome, while, from 2004 to 2011 she directed the International Center for Art and the Paysage of the Ile de Vassivière in France.

But that's not all... From 2011 to 2016 Parisi directed the cultural programming of La Monnaie, the Mint of Paris, by opening the institution also to the contemporary art during the institution's 1150 birthday. Over the years Parisi has brought there the installation of John Baldessari "Your name in lights", Paul McCarthy and his "Chocolate Factory" that together with Marcel Broodthaers Musée d'Art Modern exhibition, Department of Anglais received great critical attention. Her programming has continued with names as Jannis Kounellis, or the exhibition co-signed by Boltanski and Obrist "Take me, I am yours".

The abovementioned is strongly related to the second piece of news because the Parisi's nomination will lead the art historian Emma Lavigne (Versailles, 1968; ex curator of Center Pompidou Metz) to become the first female President of Palais de Tokyo. A bestowal proposed by French President Emmanuel Macron in July 2019.
