This year, the innovative and original reality of Barcelona Gallery Weekend presents its 8th edition with a surging number of 32 participating galleries and works from more than 60 artists. The four-day art fair, taking place between the 15th and 18th September 2022, brings together the region's contemporary art galleries. BGW offers a range of galleries from a cosmopolitan and gothic city offers, such as 3 PUNTS, ADN Galerie, Alalimòn, Artur Ramon Art, Àngels Barcelona, Chiquita Room, etHALL, Galeria Joan Prats, Galeria Uxval Gochez, Palmadotze, Victor Lope, Zielinsky.

BGW diversified its programme according to the varied clientele and prerequisites of each branch of the audience. It presents a public programme, aimed at the general public, also includes guided tours to the participating galleries, and specific visits for families with children; a professional programme, aimed at collectors, curators, art critics and representatives of local and international art institutions. The art fair is in charge of personalized tours, professional meetings, social events and exclusive activities to get to know Barcelona's artistic offer and build synergies between the guests; and acquisitions programme, which addresses foundations and private companies that commit to incorporate into their collections artworks from among those exhibited in the participating galleries during BGW.

BGW’s galleries will be autonomous from one another to make sure the galleries and artists express their full creative potential. However, these will concentrate on a range of mediums being paintings, sculptures, installations & videos, and avant-garde techniques such as engravings with machine precision, automated drawing devices. Also, the gallery Alalimòn exhibits Varvara & Mar, a duo of artists inspired by the digital age. Fascinated by artificial intelligence and kinetics, they create artworks using these strategies.

The generational gap is wide as the art fair promotes young emerging artists as well as multidisciplinary and acclaimed artists such as Irving Penn and Calder.  Influential and famous artists include Esther Ferrer, at àngels barcelona, pioneer and maximum representative of performance art in Spain; Susana Solano at Artur Ramon Art, whose sculptural work will be presented in dialogue with pieces by historical avant-garde artists such as Julio González, Eduardo Chillida or Manolo Hugué.

Location-wise, a number of events at the Barcelona Gallery Weekend's participating galleries will happen, such as social appetizers, guided tours throughout the city, book presentations, as well as talks hosted by artists and curators that shouldn’t be missed. An opportunity to have a first-hand experience.

We are looking forward to enriching our artistic knowledge through the Spanish cityscape.
