Gilda is a way of experiencing contemporary art, a hybrid of tradition and modernity. Gilda is a creature that was born in the heart of Milan, in via San Maurilio, in March 2017. Some might call it a gallery, but Gilda is much more than that. It has its own soul and history, like all living beings. Gilda is a space for contemporary art, but many things happen there: book presentations, happenings, meetings, workshops, video art reviews and much more. Here art mixes with fashion, design, photography, literature, love and respect for nature. It is energy that pervades all art forms, without setting limits or boundaries. The guest artists embrace the philosophy of this place, they experiment, they find in Gilda a welcoming, sustainable home, they establish strong connections with the spaces. The theme of nature, spirituality, identity and memory is always present. All of Gilda's exhibitions follow and are in harmony with the seasons and the events happening in the city. Each event is not only planned, but also internalised and lived in full: they are special moments in which, through creativity, beauty in all its forms is celebrated.
Gilda's history is about a passion for art that Cristina Gilda Artese follows since many years. As founder of Arsprima in 2007, an Association dedicated to the promotion of contemporary art, and as editor for Or Not magazine, dedicated to contemporary anomalies, Cristina - focalized on young contemporary italian artists - could be defined a 2.0 Patron. Born in 1970, after a bachelor degree in business strategy at Università Luigi Bocconi in Milano and a master's degree at Esade University in Barcelona, Cristina chose a career path that brought her to be an accountant. She comes from a family of art collectionists and art and beauty are in her DNA. In 2017 she realized Gilda project, that founded its headquarter in the centre of Milan - via San Maurilio, near the famous crossroad "Cinque Vie". Her research on contemporary art never stopped: exhibitions, special events, workshops for families and children, educational projects and contaminations.
