Published on the occasion of the homonymous exhibition "the eye, the eye and the ear" exhibition presented at Pirelli HangarBicocca, the catalogue is conceived as a science fiction tale in the artist's personal universe. Realized as a sort of meta-book, the exhibition volume alternates fragments of writings coming from the scientific, literary and artistic world.
The book presents various critical contributions: a text by Lucia Aspesi and Fiammetta Griccioli, curators of the exhibition, a visual essay in collaboration with Trisha Baga, edited by Herb Tam, curator of the Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) in New York, an essay by Pavel Pys´, curator at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, a conversation between between Trisha Baga and artist Lucy Raven, and an essay by Elisabeth Sherman, assistant curator at the Whitney Museum, New York.
The catalogue also contains extensive photographic documentation of the Milan exhibition and the artist's complete filmography.
Trisha Baga (Venice, Florida, 1985, lives and works in New York), American of Filipino origin, is among the most innovative artists and filmmakers of her generation. In her works she combines different languages and media and draws from television, cinema and home movies to deal with themes such as gender identity and the relationship between the real and digital worlds, bringing out a different perspective of contemporaneity.
