Vittorio Corsini's artistic career has spanned two decades of intense activity in the field of sculpture and installation art; using such different materials as steel and blown glass, the artist has imparted a new configuration to objects of daily use, also revisiting organic and natural shapes with the toughness or fragility of these materials. His sculpture is pared down to the bare essentials in its shape, becoming the vehicle for an emotional content and spawning the conditions for a changed experience of daily life.
Over time Corsini's work has become increasingly directed toward the public and social sphere; since the nineties the artist has been designing works for urban spaces: courtyards, fountains, gardens and events in squares designed to foster encounters and based on an analysis of the local community's habits.
In both the object-related and environmental versions, the image of the home is a constant icon in his work, its different spatial translations (such as the schematic ground plans or axonometric plans that he reproduces on walls or recreates on the floor using coloured sawdust) highlight the difficulty in representing a closed and impenetrable domestic space.
Attracted for as long as he can remember by borderline fields, Corsini has produced works in which living space becomes a place for individuals to pass through and recognise each other, the metaphor of a possible relationship with the world.
Also in his more recent works, linked to the ground plans of places of worship, the internal space is reduced to abstract margins of the perimeter, to tangible and at the same time fragile borders. In the melding of architectures and symbologies linked to different religious confessions, his works further develop a ritual community's spirit and social form.
