Mireille Blanc’s work acknowledges the thoughtful relationship she establishes between the physical act of painting, in all its richness, and the business of reproducing images, taken from her own photographs, family albums, or archives. Often in her work the forms and motifs are elusive and insubstantial – we see only a fragment, an unexpected perspective on an object or a photograph. Mireille Blanc imagines layers of emotion and nostalgia, throwing a veil of paint over the surfaces she reproduces.
